Hair Care and Health

There are about one hundred thousand hairs on a persons head. Every hair has a hair shaft and a layer in the outside. The outside layer is what protects the inner layer of hair. It is known that shiny hair is a good sign of great health hair that is shiny has all of the layers of the cuticle laying flat and it reflect light. When the cuticle is laying flat the inside of the hair is protected from heat, sun, chlorine, and anything else that is a hazard to the hair. Damaged hair has the cuticle scales not laying flat and the hair is usually dry. This is because the hair is not protected from the environment.

Depending on what type of hair you have depends on how you will follow through with your hair care. Anybody having dry hair has different hair care needs then a person that has fine hair. However everybody needs to pay close attention as to when they brush their hair. Never brush hair that is wet when hair is brushed wet it can stretch and break. Also by brushing you hair when it is wet can cause the hair to have cuticle damage and make the hair not shiny at all.

Be sure to wash your hair with a mild shampoo and this is more so if you are washing you hair everyday. However it is better not to wash your hair everyday if it is dry. It is fine if you only need to wash your hair once a week this will let the natural oils coat your hair so it is protected. If you need to wash your hair everyday because it is oily then try to use a shampoo that is made specifically for oily hair.

When you take care of your hair you will look great and feel great as we all know that health and well being go hand in hand.
